Wraps and Rolls
Shawarma and Wraps in Singapore | Halal Turkish Wraps at Anatolia Arab Street
Shawarma at Anatolia is not a menu addition. It is a kitchen staple marinated meat on a vertical spit, shaved to order and wrapped in warm lavash with sauce, pickles and salad. Alongside it, a falafel wrap made from in-house fried falafel and a halloumi wrap with properly grilled Cypriot cheese. Four wraps on the menu, each made fresh at the Arab Street kitchen. All halal-certified, available for dine-in and delivery across Singapore.
Our Wraps and Shawarma Menu
Chicken Shawarma - $21.90
Marinated chicken thigh slow-cooked on a vertical spit, shaved to order and rolled in warm lavash with garlic sauce, pickles and salad. Thigh meat is used specifically because it holds moisture on the spit breast meat dries out. The marinade runs through the full thickness of the meat, not just the surface. The right order for a first-time shawarma from Anatolia.
Lamb Shawarma - $22.90
Spiced lamb layered on a vertical spit, cooked until the outer layer caramelises and is shaved into the wrap with tahini, fresh tomato and herbs. The fat content in the lamb renders as it cooks, basting the layers below and adding depth to every bite. Richer and more intense than the chicken. The version that explains why shawarma's reputation was built on lamb.
Falafel Wrap - $19.90
Fresh falafel ground chickpeas and herbs, fried in-house rolled in lavash with hummus, pickled vegetables and salad. The same falafel served on the hot starters menu, not sourced frozen and not reheated. Vegetarian, halal and complete enough to work as a full meal rather than a side order.
Halloumi Wrap - $21.90
Grilled halloumi wrapped in lavash with vegetables and sauce. Cypriot cheese that holds its structure under direct heat and develops a golden crust without melting the same halloumi served as a hot starter on its own. Firm, salty and genuinely satisfying rather than the soft, under seasoned vegetarian option most wrap menus rely on. Vegetarian and halal.
What Is Shawarma And What Makes a Good One
The word shawarma comes from the Turkish çevirme to turn or rotate. It describes the cooking method, not the flavor profile. Layers of marinated meat are stacked on a vertical spit, rotating slowly against a heat source so the outer layer cooks gradually and is shaved off to order. What you get in the wrap is that outer crust the caramelized, spice-concentrated edge mixed with the softer interior meat underneath it.
Most shawarma problems trace back to two things: meat marinated for too short a time, and spice applied to the surface rather than worked through the layers. A proper marinade penetrates the full thickness over at least 24 hours. The spice blend should be present in the first bite and the last.
The Difference Between Chicken and Lamb Shawarma
Chicken shawarma uses thigh meat over breast. The fat content keeps it from drying on the spit. The marinade runs on turmeric, garlic, cumin, lemon and yoghurt it produces a lighter, slightly sharp flavor that pairs well with garlic sauce and pickled vegetables.
Lamb shawarma is built on a heavier spice base cumin, coriander, cinnamon and allspice. The fat in the lamb renders as it cooks and bastes the lower layers. The result is richer, with more depth and a slightly smoky edge from the caramelized fat. At Anatolia the spice base is Turkish rather than Lebanese less reliant on vinegared notes, more focused on warm spice. A different profile from what most shawarma places in Singapore serve.
Chicken Shawarma vs Lamb Shawarma Which One to Order
The short answer depends on what you want from the meal.
Chicken shawarma at $21.90 is the cleaner option. Lighter meat, garlic sauce, crisp pickles. Well-balanced and the better choice for a lunch order, or if you are splitting with someone who does not eat lamb.
Lamb shawarma at $22.90 is richer and has a more assertive flavor. If you have had chicken shawarma many times and want to understand why the dish's reputation was built on lamb, this is the version to order. Pair it with a shepherd's salad or a portion of ezme the acidity in both cuts through the richness of the lamb exactly the way it is supposed to.
Both come with wrap, sauce, pickles and salad. Both are halal. Both are made to order at the Arab Street kitchen.
Falafel and Halloumi Wraps The Vegetarian Options at Anatolia
Vegetarian wraps in Singapore tend to fall into one of two categories: a plain cheese melt in flatbread, or a falafel made from a frozen mix. Neither is worth ordering twice.
At Anatolia, the falafel is made in-house every day the same falafel that goes out as a starter, ground from chickpeas, mixed with herbs and spices, and fried fresh. In the wrap it comes with hummus, pickled vegetables and salad. It is one of the more complete vegetarian lunch options available for delivery in Singapore if you want something substantial without processed substitutes.
The halloumi wrap uses the same grilled halloumi available as a standalone hot appetizer. Properly grilled over direct heat long enough to build a crust not lightly pan-fried and tucked into bread. The texture holds in the wrap and the natural saltiness of the cheese does not need additional seasoning to carry the dish.
Both are listed on the vegan and vegetarian menu. Both are halal.
Halal Wraps and Shawarma in Singapore Dine In or Delivery
Every wrap at Anatolia is halal-certified and made at the Arab Street kitchen. For dine-in, wraps are made to order and arrive quickly good for a solo lunch or as part of a table order alongside hot starters and a salad.
For delivery, all four wraps travel well. Lavash holds up better than pita for delivery it stays pliable rather than going stiff in transit. If you are ordering the falafel wrap for delivery, note that the falafel is best eaten within 30 minutes of preparation for full crispness.
